Comfortable, Natural-Looking Tooth Replacement
Missing teeth can make eating, speaking, and smiling more difficult. Full and partial dentures can replace missing teeth and help restore comfort and function.
Full Dentures
Full dentures replace all of the teeth in the upper or lower jaw. Conventional dentures are made after the gums have healed following tooth removal. Immediate dentures can be placed on the same day teeth are removed and may require adjustments as the mouth heals.
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. They replace missing teeth while using the remaining teeth for support. The design and materials used depend on your individual situation.
What to Expect
Getting used to a new denture takes time. It may feel different at first as you learn to speak and eat comfortably with the restoration. Follow-up visits may be needed to make adjustments, particularly while the mouth is healing after tooth removal.
Caring for Your Dentures
- Rinse dentures after eating when possible
- Brush them daily with a soft denture brush or soft-bristled brush
- Use a denture cleanser rather than abrasive toothpaste or household cleaners
- Follow our recommendations for storage when dentures are not being worn
- Clean your gums, tongue, and roof of your mouth regularly
- Continue daily care of any remaining natural teeth
When Should Your Dentures Be Checked?
Contact us if your dentures feel loose or uncomfortable, cause persistent sore spots, crack or break, affect your bite, or make chewing or speaking difficult. Don’t attempt to repair a broken denture yourself.
Dentures and Dental Implants
For some patients, dental implants can help support replacement teeth. Implants may support a fixed bridge or help stabilize a removable denture. We’ll explain the available choices and help determine which approach fits your needs.
